All of these offerings are designed to be compatible with AED LIFELINKcentral readiness software. The HeartSine Samaritan AEDs do their own period self-tests to ensure the hardware components, software and consumables combine to be rescue ready. Until now, employees would ideally check the devices periodically and record their audit results in a readiness software program or using paper check tags and/or spreadsheets. Such processes leave obvious room for error and some studies that more than 1 in 5 AEDs may not be ready for use.
So how does this new technology work and what does it do? The HeartSine Gateway communication device connects with the HeartSine AED, simply snapping on to the device. To accommodate the slightly larger combined size of the AED with the Gateway, the new bundles and retro-fit kits come with a larger newly designed Stryker carring case((and a removal tool.) As part of a one-time setup the AED program coordinator pairs the Gateway units with their existing Wi-Fi single or dual band 2.4 ghz router. Once paired, the Gateway communicates with AED LIFELINKcentral to alert the program coordinator once an AED fails a self-test.
This new HeartSine Connected technology is valuable whether an organization invests in few AEDs or has many. That said, organizations with many AEDs (tens, hundreds, or thousands) tend to find the management of audits and maintenance especially cumbersome and challenging.
